Eco- Friendly Christmas at Moreton
This year, the eco team is excited to launch a Christmas campaign aimed at making Moreton’s holiday celebrations more eco-friendly. A key focus of the campaign is the upcoming Secret Santa. To inspire students and promote thoughtful, sustainable gift-giving, the team has created a list of eco-friendly gift ideas. Additionally, plans are in place to provide boarding houses with recycled wrapping paper, such as a large roll of brown paper that students can decorate themselves. The team also suggested using scotch tape instead of traditional sellotape, as it can be removed without tearing, making the paper reusable.
To support this campaign, sustainable gift ideas will be made easily accessible through ME, and a reminder will be sent to students encouraging them to practice eco-friendly holiday habits. Recommendations include using creative alternatives to traditional wrapping paper, such as scarves, reusable boxes, and newspapers. The team also proposed handmade gifts like salt dough ornaments, seasonal cooking, or wreath-making. Other eco-friendly gift ideas include bamboo socks, seed packets, candles, and reusable water bottles.
This Christmas campaign embodies Moreton’s commitment to celebrating the season with care for the environment and spreading holiday cheer in a sustainable and responsible way.
