World Toilet Day
19 November is dedicated to raising awareness of the millions of people and communities that don’t have a toilet and clean water. The day proved to be a super success - to be expected when the topic involves poo!
With the help of a powerpoint presentation by non-profit organisation, Water Aid, a group of KS3 aged kids discussed the issues around the lack of appropriate hygiene and sanitation. The discussion involved thinking of living without toilets and what that would feel like. While the topic is a very serious one, toilets and poos made it a very cheerful and memorable one.
A coding sheet also provided by Water Aid was completed by the children. They weren’t difficult but reiterated the important messages of the presentation.
And finally, we couldn’t have world toilet day without our trademark poo cakes! With the use of biscuit crumbs, plant based butter, cocoa powder and sugar the kids created their version of a poo cake. And then ate it…
At the end of the day we said a big thank you to our toilet!
Coincidentally, our usual toilet paper subscription arrived just a couple of days after this activity. Who Gives a Crap donates 50% of their profit to hygiene and sanitation projects in developing countries.
