Buggingham Palace

Written By: Solihull Prep School

We all have a passion for looking after animals in our Roots & Shoots Club, so we decided that we would build a special home for minibeasts at our school… and we decided to treat them like royalty too!

We collected old wooden crates and oddments of plywood, and with some handy help from Tom, one of our Grounds Team, the structure of ‘Buggingham Palace’ was created!

We then knew we needed some interior design to keep our minibeast residents happy… so we all collected fallen leaves and any twigs, cones and vegetation we could find in our Forest School area.

Next, we filled each room with the vegetation we had collected, making lots of little hidey holes for to keep different types of insects happy.

We hope that many minibeasts will move in to Buggingham Palace over the coming months!
