Spinfield School bug hotels!
What are we doing to help the environment?
Spinfield School children are making a pyramid of bug hotels to help the little creatures on our school grounds. The Global citizens, Year 6 and Reception have made 60 bug hotels and after the Easter holidays we are going to put them all into a pyramid sculpture for our school grounds.
Why are we doing this?
We are doing this because bug hotels help minibeasts and insects have safe habitats. It is important to help animals, especially insects because they pollinate our plants around the school community. It is important to pollinate plants, if we do not do this we won’t be able to grow enough plants for food purposes. Each food chain starts with a plant so we need our little creatures!
How are we doing this?
We collected many natural resources such as twigs, leaves, pine cones etc…. to put into recycled plastic bottles. We pack the bottles tightly and then we will put these into a wooden pyramid frame, like a sculpture, which will be put in the school grounds where many different small creatures can go into them so they can be safe and be in a homely environment. Their own little hotels!
Thank you, Spinfield Global Citizens!
