Herb tea harvest
We grow a few herbs in our garden, some on purpose, some by luck. We still have a lot of lemon balm, nettle and elderflower teas but ran out of mint so we harvested these this year.
We could have harvested them several times but I kind of forgot so at the end of the summer we did one harvest. I asked the kids to cut down the stems and we placed these in the conservatory to dry.
After a couple of weeks, when we deemed the leaves bone dry we crumbled them into a jar and placed them amongst the other ones for our enjoyment.
Herb trees are expensive but apart from money, we are also saving the packaging they are coming in and teaching children on the importance and the fun of self sufficiency.
