Calculating our carbon footprint

The children and I sat down to calculate our carbon footprint. We chose WWF's calculator. It asked questions on four topics:

Travel

Home

Stuff

We are a very conscious family when it comes to our home but especially about our food and 'stuff'. But there is no getting away from the fact that we run a petrol car and our school - which provides flexi schooling for my younger son - is half an hour away. We have arranged a car-share but we still have to do the journey 3 times a week. But our biggest output is unfortunately flying. To see half our family we fly two or three times a year. Very infuriatingly, the train is not a possibility for us for financial reasons. It is terrible that such a polluting way of travel is more affordable than cleaner options.
