Bee exhibition
On the last day of January, we visited the World Museum in Liverpool to take a look at their temporary exhibition on bees.
We’ve learnt several new things about these wonderful and important pollinators. One of the fascinating facts that stuck with us - possibly because just the day before we learnt about static electricity - was that bees pick up pollen with the help of this physical phenomenon. As they beat their wings extremely fast - over 200 beats per second - they create static electricity, which helps pollen stick on their fluffy bottoms!
Although World Bee Day is not until 20 May, we took the opportunity to think of and be grateful for these crucially important, lovely insects on this winter day, when they were mostly still sound asleep.
