Growing our own
We love having our own allotment. The children are so keen to help, and along with their parents, they attend regular allotment workshops. They show their parents our raised bed and areas for spring planting. I heard them using the correct gardening terms, such as chitting and it's a trowel, not a spade Daddy! Together, we planted our potatoes and prepared an area for our wildflower seeds that we were donated, from Grow Wild. Our allotment teaches our young children so much, all about preparation, planting, caring for, picking and eating. Just what's needed for healthy eating and understanding where food comes from-not from Tesco! We never use weed killers or slug pellets, our soil is fertilised with new forest pony poo! We have also planted beans and radish. We look forward to planting all our further seeds that we collected from last year or were donated by our super parents.
