Journey of wood

By exploring the journey of wood – from the forest to the products we use – children will be learning about types of forests and the trees that grow within them, what different wood is used for, and how it is transported across the world. Covering habitats, sustainability, ethics, human and physical geography, science, English and maths, this project will spark imaginations and open the doors to new worlds of knowledge.

In this activity you and your students will:

  • Research tropical and temperate forests from around the world, discovering the habitats, wildlife and human lives they support.
  • Explore the origins of wood based products, including the furniture and paper that are used in your school.
  • Understand how forests provide us with more than just wood.
