Don’t miss it!
Celebrating 30 years of Roots & Shoots around the world
In 1990, twelve Tanzanian students joined Dr. Goodall on her front porch to share their distress and hopelessness at the state of their community and the world. Jane encouraged them to use what tools they did have — their voices, their observations, and their determination — to make a difference. From that small group, Roots & Shoots was born!Today it has grown to include young people from over 50 countries, working together to make a positive impact for people, animals, and the environment, in their backyards and beyond! Young people are not just the future, they are the present and have the power to shape a better tomorrow, today. This year marks three decades of hope, action, and connection led by young people creating a better world for all – but it’s only the beginning. We celebrated the official 30th Anniversary of Roots & Shoots on 19th February 2021 and continued the celebration through impactful youth campaigns hosted by global chapter countries all year long. From our four major youth campaigns - Connect the Change, Growing Together, World Chimpanzee Day 2021 and Voices from Our Earth – Roots & Shoots members created ripples of positive change the world over.As part of the 30th Anniversary, Roots & Shoots members submitted their projects created as part of these campaigns for an opportunity to be honoured at the Awards event!
