Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots Winter 2022 Newsletter
Dear Members,As we rapidly approach the end of yet another year, I am reminded about my last welcome note on the celebration of Her Majesty’s Jubilee. Sadly, only a few months later, we lost our remarkable Queen. An individual who truly represented a timeless figure for our Nation and who, in an impossible way, we all hoped would live forever. Now, more than ever before, we owe it to Her Majesty to continue her amazing legacy and the love she had for both animals and the natural world, shown through the very qualities she embodied in her lifestyle – those of perseverance, commitment, kindness and dedication to her various causes.Covid-19 impacted our work in one way, but it also gave us more time to focus on the environment, highlighting the importance of respecting it and continuing activities in parks, green spaces and gardens within lockdown restrictions. It created the opportunity to educate our members on the implications of species and habitat destruction, the transfer of zoonotic diseases and live and wet markets, and the importance of respecting these boundaries even more so than ever before. This year, our emergence from the Pandemic, means we can once again come together to celebrate our achievements. Just a few of our highlights include our exciting UK annual Awards event coming up on the 3rd March, 2023, so watch this space and don’t forget to enter your school if you haven’t already. It’s our way of showing our appreciation for all that you do.In the meantime, please read on and enjoy our Winter update, highlighting the great work of our young members who are already embracing the many challenges we face, and rising up to meet them in a practical and positive way.Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.Tara GolshanExecutive Director, EducationTo download the Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Winter 2022 Newsletter, please click here
