In the footsteps of Dr Jane

During the Summer of 2022 pupils form Ysgol Clywedog Eco-Taskforce joined a month long expedition to Tanzania, following in the footsteps of their hero, Dr Jane!The group spent a month helping local communities and working on marine environmental projects that will benefit both the local villages and the wider environment. Building the foundations of schools, re-working waste wood into desks and mixing concrete to create artificial reefs was all in a days work. Linked to this the group also got to make lots of new friends in the local villages, sample local food and cook with the village Mamas. A highlight of the expedition was living out with a Maasai tribe and learning local crafts and skills.We have pupils heading out to Tanzania in Summer 2023 and 2024 to strengthen our links to this wonderful country. All the pupils raised the money to go on the adventure by fundraising and taking part in a host of sponsored activities.
