Holme Grange School successfully hosts the 13th Beyond COP21 Symposium
In October, Holme Grange School hosted the 13th Beyond COP21 Symposium with over 100 pupils attending onsite and 4 local schools (Evendons, St Crispin's, Waverley and St. Teresa's) attending via 'Zoom'.
Beyond COP21 Symposium contributes a key ingredient as a result of the historic Paris talks: the education and mobilisation of the youth and school communities. It links the Climate Crisis to the crucial role of, and action on, the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals through a platform which supports whole school engagement, community outreach and corporate responsibility.'Despite the challenges faced by the pandemic, the school demonstrated great resolve, passion and determination in making this event a great success and showing its commitment towards Sustainability.' Beyond COP21 representative.Roots & Shoos was delighted to take part in this event, along with WWF-UK; Deputy Ambassador of Nicaragua to the UK; eduCCate Global and Onestep. As well as an exciting display offering a range of creative materials and the latest Roots & Shoots news, we even managed to fit in an interview for EducCate Global. Our ED; Tara Golshan then gave an inspirational talk and commented on the event,“After 9 months of being Zoomed out it was an absolute delight to be physically present at Holme Grange School. As always, the young members were inquisitive, inspirational and dedicated to taking action for our environment; even more so in the Pandemic; which has only served to highlight the issues of illegal pet trades and zoonotic diseases even further”.A huge thank you to all the guests who participated and contributed to the success of the event through exhibiting, running workshops, presenting and to Holme Grange School for hosting us all.
