Hanson Box - Goat Lees Primary
We were super lucky to receive another Hanson Box this year; another jam-packed box of amazing resources. When we opened the box this year, we were not disappointed. Not only was it full of fantastic quality books, there were some fabulous posters on 'Water Cycle'. We are covering 'Why We Should Respect Water?' under our topic this term so the poster were a lovely addition to our display board. Not only do we enjoy the amazing quality books that we receive in our Hanson Boxes but the children greatly enjoy the fun and exciting suggested lesson plans and fabulous resources linked to the books. In our last box, one of the things we did was to use the wild flower seeds to plant up some raised beds to encourage bees. Again, our topic at that time was looking at pollination which meant the resources linked in nicely. Not only did we have the seeds in our box, but also materials and instructions to build a fantastic bee house. Once our wild flowers had grown, our Yr 3 & 4 children had an amazing 'Bee Day' where they dressed up as bees and built the bee houses whilst learning how vital bees are, to both pollinate the food we need to survive and pollinate many of the trees and flowers that provide habitats for wildlife.
We always look forward to our Hanson Box delivery; not only do we get to add some beautiful books to our library but the suggested lesson plans and resources are always very interesting for the children to take part in and use.All in all, the Hanson Boxes are an extremely useful free resource to any school so don't forget to sign up for yours!Thank you Roots & Shoots and Don Hanson Charitable Foundation!
