Corn Flower Farm

Moreton Hall's Corn Flower Farm is a place where compassion, sustainability, and education come together harmoniously. In 2020, this school farm began its journey with the rescue of two orphaned lambs, Eddie and Shawn, who have now grown into sturdy 3-year-olds. Since then, the farm has flourished, not only in terms of its animal residents but also with the addition of a greenhouse, an eco garden, and active student involvement. This is the heartwarming story of a school farm that embodies the principles of care for both its inhabitants and the environment.Eddie and Shawn, the two orphaned lambs found on a hillside, were the catalysts for Corn Flower Farm's inception. Today, at three years old, they serve as living symbols of resilience and the farm's commitment to providing a loving home for animals in need. The bond formed with these two lambs laid the foundation for a journey that has since enriched the lives of many. In addition to its woolly residents, the farm now boasts a diverse community of chickens,  rabbits, and guinea pigs. The farm's ecosystem thrives as each animal plays its unique role in creating a sustainable and vibrant environment. The farm's diverse inhabitants are a testament to the school's dedication to nurturing life and fostering understanding of the natural world. One of the most captivating aspects of Corn Flower Farm is the perpetual cycle of life. With 11 rabbits hopping about, due to welcoming 7 new bunny arrivals before the summer. Moreover, each spring heralds the arrival of a fresh set of chicks, symbolizing renewal, growth, and the enduring rhythms of life. Corn Flower Farm extends its commitment to sustainability with a thriving greenhouse and an eco garden. Within the eco garden blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, and mint flourish, creating a space where students can learn about plant cultivation and the benefits of sustainable gardening practices. One of the most unique aspects of Corn Flower Farm is the active involvement of pupils. Students take on responsibilities such as caring for the animals and ensuring the chickens are safely returned to their pen at night after a day of free-ranging around the school grounds. This hands-on experience not only instills a sense of responsibility but also fosters a deep connection with the natural world. Corn Flower Farm is more than just a school farm; it's a nurturing environment where compassion, sustainability, and education coexist seamlessly.
