Andover Youth Shoots - In Touch with Nature project update
The ATU youth team / Andover youth shoots had a camping trip in Harmony Woods where they undertook a bat survey and a set up a moth trap.
Previously they have been learning how to identify trees, and have taken part in various day-time wildlife surveys such as wildflowers, birds, and setting camera traps - but they were really interested to see what sort of wildlife they would find during the nighttime!
We identified several new (new to our records) species of moth including the very cool buff-tip moth.
We can also now say for certain that there are bats present in Harmony Woods :) exciting!
The data they collected goes towards ATU's ongoing wildlife monitoring database and will be shared with national databases, too.
