Raising money for 5 horses, a donkey and honouring Dr Jane's 90!
In Ms. Gediman's and Mr. Bradshaw’s class of Year 6 students (5th Grade at our school), we did chores at home for five days to raise money to sponsor five horses and one donkey at Redwings Horse Sanctuary. They did things like helping to make dinner, helping with shopping, doing laundry, and helping family members.
Redwings is the largest Horse Sanctuary in the UK, and they do amazing work. Our TASIS students have been supporting Redwings for many years.
Each student took home a chore chart and filled it in each day. Then, their parents decided on an amount of money for each day. The 24 students in our classes raised an amazing £207.00 for Redwings. We decided that this year, our donation would go to honour all the incredible work that Dr. Jane Goodall does for animals around the world. She is such an inspiration for us, and we wanted to help these animals to honour Jane Goodall’s 90th Birthday!
The money that we raised will go towards food and medical care for the horses and donkeys at Redwings. We get to have photos twice a year as well as a letter from our horses and donkey. The names of our horses are Sampson, Lily, Victoria, Cookie, and Tinkerbell. Our lovely donkey is named Esther. We have an example of Sampson's letter to us here. We have also shared a few chore charts.
