Our very own berries

We were given a lovely raspberry sapling from a friend a couple of years ago. It seemed happy in its pot but I knew it needed to be re-planted soon.

One day when we were planting flowers in the garden I made some space and dug a larger hole. We planted the raspberry sapling here.

It immediately took and we harvested the first handful of fruit just a few weeks later (it already had them when we re-planted it). But this wasn’t all. A couple of months later it started flowering again and we are currently waiting for a large crop (two handful??) of raspberries from a grateful plant.

We have a few blackcurrant bush cuttings from our allotment from last winter (I cut them when they were inactive and stuck them in a pot of soil to grow roots), we will plant those too but will now wait for the winter with them.
