Be Kind!
Hollie, one of our year 6 pupils, instigated a being ‘kind to people’ fundraiser in collaboration with local charity ‘Be Kind’. Founder of ‘Be Kind’, Yasmin, who organises food collections from various schools, was blown away with the amount of items donated by our pupils. The twist Hollie put on the usual edible donations was to focus on children’s stationery, with the aim of distributing items to families who can benefit from them over the long summer holidays. They received hundreds of books, jigsaws, games, crafting boxes and much more; many of them were brand new!
To make her initiative happen, Hollie pitched to her form tutor and then Deputy Head of the Prep School to explain her idea and how it would benefit those in the community. After considering a whole school campaign, she made the sensible choice to focus on her own year group preparing a Powerpoint and delivering a year group assembly to explain the idea. She was ably assisted by two classmates and her mum, who helped to deliver the items using her car. This project has certainly benefited a range of people in our local community. We are very proud of Hollie!
