Wildlife Cameras

We have recently purchased two motion capture wildlife cameras; we were able to purchase these from our amazing prize money from the Roots & Shoots Awards 2023.Just before Christmas our cameras arrived and we excitedly set about discussing suitable places to set them up within the school grounds. Each afternoon, the children helped to put up the cameras; these positions changed each time we installed them so that, hopefully, we could capture as many photos as possible. We then left the cameras overnight (they both have motion sensor night vision) and awaited the results. Each morning, we rushed out to see what they had managed to record - the results were amazing! The children absolutely adore seeing what our cameras have recorded and it has been wonderful to see how this has sparked their curiosity as they are constantly asking questions about about all of our residence, and are even suggesting new places to position the cameras to see if we can see more.Here are a few of the images we have been lucky enough to capture and, as you can see, we have captured, foxes (we have a visiting pair), squirrels, cats, various birds (Magpies, Wood Pigeons, Collared Doves, Blue Tits, Sparrows, Starlings and a resident Robin) and the local cat(s):

We also gained lots of video footage of all of these wonderful creatures plus, hopping toads and leaping squirrels. We are really looking forward to Spring and Summer to see what other animals we might see - hedgehogs, some pondlife shots and even, maybe, some baby fox cubs to our pair of foxes!
