Can the youngest of children learn about fair trade?! Of course they can!We were lucky to be able to borrow a collection of fair trade objects, the children especially enjoyed looking at all the food packages, the recycled toys and pictures and images from hot countries where fair trade is prevalent. The children were told about how the farmers use local people so they can feed their families. The workers can also take breaks and have water to drink. In essence, they are kind farmers which the children used to understand the concept. We made our own fair trade foods from recycled paper and card to go on our display. We made a tasty pudding using bananas and chocolate bars, both with the fair trade emblem on. The children were encouraged to recognise this, so when they went shopping with their parents, they could select fair trade foods.Lots of our parents informed me that was happening around the supermarket!! We will continue to purchase fair trade for our snacks and for cooking activities.
