KGS Fundraising Craft Sale

Hi everyone! Just a quick update to let you know how our fundraising is going. Before Christmas we held a craft/bake sale at our school parent's evening which turned out to be a great success. The previous week we held craft sessions where group members helped to create christmas cards and bird see fat balls to sell.Almost everyone from the group was able to come at least one night so everyone got a chance to get creative - the fat balls were particularly messy, made by mixing bird seed with lard and shaping into balls. We made two kinds of cards, plainer robin/dove cards and 'beadling' cards which had a small beaded animal attached to the front which could then be detached and used as Christmas tree decorations. Some members also went the extra mile and brought along homebakes which sold fantastically. As you can see from the picture, the parents were very generous, and we eventually sold absolutely everything! In total we raised more than £125 (this is net profit not including material costs!) in less than two hours. To add to that, we had another bake sale later in the week at two of our members' science baccalaureate talk which brought the figure up to almost £150. This money will hopefully help to fund our groups activities in the future allowing us to travel a little further afield and pay for supplies. Also, we plan to donate a sum to Orkney Seal Rescue for allowing us to visit them on South Ronaldsay, but more on this next time after we finish our visits next week!A big well done to the group for their hard work and thank you to everyone that came to, helped with or bought from our sales.Tansy Branscombe
