Damers First School - "The Beauty of Nature", Open for Art Fortnight Exhibition

Damers First School children have produced phenomenal art work as part of Open for Art Fortnight. This work has been inspired by Prince Charles's book Harmony: A New Way of Looking at Our World. The children worked with recycle sculpture artist  Peter Margerum to construct a natural life cycle with minibeasts, pollinators and flowers made from plastics that are hard to recycle. The tree was made from recycled wood. This was funded by The Arts Society Dorset.

Each Year Group produce a piece of art work for the exhibition. Year 3 worked with a Ceramic Artist Des Alner to produce some amazing Islamic Tiles. The children designed their tiles by using a compass. The children learned about geometry and how to draw a triangle and hexagon.

Foundation looked an pattern in animals for example a zebra has stripes and the shell of a tortoise is hexagonal.

Year 1 used items they found outside to make prints in clay.Year 2 did some Islamic tile printing.

Year 4 produced a fantastic batik sheet.
