Damers First School - Plastic Free Dorchester
Damers Eco Ambassadors have launched a campaign to make Dorchester Plastic Free (Single use) and achieve the Surfers Against Sewage Community Status for the town. They have the support of Dorchester Town Council, Dorchester Bid, Dorchester Chamber for Business. The children wrote a letter to MP Sir Oliver Letwin asking for his support. He replied to the children in a couple days giving his support to their campaign. The children have written and sent letters to 300 businesses and 30 schools/colleges/nurseries in Dorchester asking them to give up 3 single use plastics or find 3 alternatives.The children will be making a presentation to the Youth Parliament on the 6th December, 45 community groups on the 7th December. They will also be giving a presentation to Dorchester Chamber for Business members along with Director or Dorset Waste Partnership and the CEO of Dorset County Council on 7th Febraury 2019. The children hope more businesses will sign up to support their campaign along with community groups.
