Chepstow House School Autumn Update

We are a small inner city school with limited outdoor space. We have tried to utilize our outside space as much as possible for learning and growing. We have raised 2 planting beds. We then used a gardening agency to help us choose plants to plant, which suited our environment. We have some plants that grow all year. We maintain the plants throughout the year watering, weeding and pruning them.  We left room in the planters to plant our own seasonal flowers, fruits and vegetables. The garden brings much more than just plants...Preparing the gardenPlanting the planters for the first timeTurning our garden into a delightIn November we plant bulbs that start to grow in the spring. We have learnt that these bulbs need water, sunlight and love! In February/March we plant seeds for vegetables and salad for us to enjoy in the summer months. Radishes, lettuce, spinach, sweet corn, runner beans and strawberries have been some of our harvests that we have enjoyed. We have loved watching our beautiful daffodils, crocus, tulips and alliums blossom in the Spring.Harvesting radishesLook what we found in the garden!Learning how to plant seedsLearning about the garden
