Caldecott Visit Singleton Environment Centre
Members of Caldecott Foundation School's Eco Club were pleased to participate in a biodiversity workshop hosted by Singleton Environment Centre. The topic of biodiversity is particularly important to us as it is one of our topics that we chose to focus on as part of our eco schools green flag award. We wanted to participate in this workshop to learn more about what biodiversity means and what more we could be doing to the help biodiversity both around school and in our local community. We learnt so much from our workshop and in particular were shocked to learn about just how damaging the impact would be if we start to loose biodiversity, specifically what different foods we would be less likely to have! Our workshop included a tour around the site where we got to see a wide variety of different plants and different animal species. We made posters inspired by the information we had learnt and we finished with making bird houses which we put in our gardens. We are grateful to Singleton Environment Centre for hosting us and we hope to return in the future. In the meantime, we will be working hard to make sure we are supporting wildlife at school.
