ACS Cobham International School Care Home Holiday Parties
In December 2022, there were two holiday parties held for local care homes in the MS Library.
To establish contact the iCare students involved wrote a list of questions to take to the care home residents to ask exactly what they wanted for their celebration. It was a wonderful interaction—they wanted to have hot drinks, toasties, carols, companionship and dancing! We stayed with them for around an hour or so and interviewed them about their pasts, their interests and what their day-to-day lives are like now. We took notes and prepared a feast and an engaging program for them for the Christmas party. We had a wide range of foods from our international communities, including Hawaiian chicken, Latvian meatballs, sugar cookies, danishes and loads of other delectable treats. They were so grateful and excited when they arrived and students learned to make them tea. We later provided table service, we were serenaded by our choir and had a fun singalong of carols. The students also gave each guest a handpicked gift, had a raffle and fun games.
A wonderful time was had by all.
