Quest Overseas sponsors the Most Outstanding Individual Award at the Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots Annual Awards 2018

The Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Award for Individual Endeavour is sponsored in 2017 by gap year and overseas volunteering organisation Quest Overseas. The winner of this award will be invited to join a Quest Overseas’ team on one of their summer projects in South America or Africa.Options include the chance to work with rescued wild animals in the Bolivian Amazon, helping to build homes for single mothers in the Peruvian shanty town of Villa Maria or giving a new home to street children from Kigali, Rwanda.Recent award winner Alex Dicker, from the Andover Trees United Team talks about his experience working with rescued wildlife in the Bolivian Amazon.“We helped construct an enclosure for a jaguar; carrying cement and rocks through swampland and clearing the perimeter to enable safe access. We were also assigned animals to look after, feed, enrich their lives and also keep them safe. We made a permanent improvement to the lives of wild animals. It was an amazing experience, from which I have made lifelong friends. We bonded from the candlelit dinners (not as romantic as it sounds when there are mosquitoes!) and it made me realise that I’d like a career in expedition healthcare.”
